Tripping Daisy Calling It Quits

(12/14/99, 3 p.m. ET) - After the release of its forthcoming self-titled album, Tripping Daisy will be calling it quits, according to singer Tim DeLaughter. The album was pushed back to a February release date so the band could include two new songs, one of which features the father of late guitarist Wes Berggren. Most of the album was recorded in Dallas this past spring. DeLaughter told the band's fans on their website, www.trippingdaisy.com, "Everyone has decided to close the door on Tripping Daisy after the passing of our friend and guitar player, Wes Berggren. As for you our wonderful fans, we hope to leave you with your last Tripping Daisy album in peace, happiness and harmony as we go forward in our own adventures. Thank you for your ears." Berggren died in his bed at home in Dallas, Texas on Oct. 27 from a drug overdose (LAUNCH, 10/29).
