(5/26/00, 12 p.m. ET) - Sixpence None The Richer is scheduled to wrap up recording its new album in Los Angeles today (May 26) and will begin mixing next week. The band spent six weeks in a Nashville studio before reconvening in L.A. earlier this month.

Guitarist Matt Slocum and vocalist Leigh Nash tell LAUNCH that they've especially enjoyed working in Southern California. "It's amazing, there's so much history here," Slocum says. "I mean like, in the studios we've been in, just to sorta know which bands have been in there, it really makes it pretty special."

"Yeah, it's really been nice," Nash adds. "We got the bulk of it done in Nashville, and just two weeks here, and we're on our second week, so it's really been a lot of free time, and it's nice to have the ocean nearby to kind of let loose and get some fresh air from the studio, so, it's great."

The yet-to-be-titled album is being produced by Paul Fox, known for his work with XTC, the Sugarcubes, 10,000 Maniacs, and Semisonic. It also features collaborations from string arrangers Van Dyke Parks, of Beach Boys' Pet Sounds fame; and David Campbell, whose orchestral work in recent years has been featured prominently in hits such as the Goo Goo Dolls' "Iris," Alanis Morissette's "Uninvited," and Green Day's "Time Of Your Life (Good Riddance)." Campbell is also the father of Beck.

Sixpence None The Richer scored big with its self-titled 1997 effort, featuring the hit single "Kiss Me."
