Orgy, Black Eyed Peas Lead L.A. Music Awards Noms

(4/30/99, 1 p.m. PDT) - More than 100 bands and performers were nominated for the 1999 LA Weekly Music Awards in 20 categories, with Orgy, Nels Cline, Black Eyed Peas, and Queens Of The Stone Age leading the pack with two nods each. The show, which will be hosted by Elvis impersonator El Vez, will feature live performances by a diverse batch of local musicians, and include presentations by surprise guests from the music, film and television worlds. The event will be held June 29 at the Palace in Hollywood, Calif. The awards are part of the LA Music Week 1999, which also includes concerts across town in several venues, seminars, specialty radio programming, dance lessons, and Bowl-A-Rama.
