(3/6/98) - San Francisco's Walk Of Fame saw fit to honor John Lee Hooker and the late Janis Joplin with plaques this week, a prelude to the March 7th California Music Awards.

Guitarist Carlos Santana heaped praise on both artists at the March 4th unveiling of the bronze sidewalk plaques. Hooker, who won a Grammy Award last week for his collaboration with Van Morrison, "Don't Look Back," was praised by Santana for his "abundant God-given talent." Joplin was remembered as giving "goosebumps on your goosebumps" for her whiskey-drenched style.

The plaques are outside Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, named for the rock promoter who died in 1991.
