(2/21/01, 12 p.m.) -- As Diamond Rio's "One More Day" makes its way up the country charts, the ballad is being used as a tribute to NASCAR superstar Dale Earnhardt, who was killed Sunday (February 18) at the Daytona 500.
Several radio stations across the country have mixed in news reports and friends commenting about the race car driver in the song that talks about making a wish to have just "one more day" to spend with loved ones.
This is not the first time the song has been remixed for a tribute. Oklahoma TV station KWTV recently remixed the song to pay tribute to Oklahoma sports announcer Bill Teegans, who was killed in a plane crash in January.
Diamond Rio's "One More Day" sits at Number Six on Billboard's Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart this week.
