Alien Ant Farm Dreams Of The King Of Pop

(6/26/01, 1 p.m. ET) -- While Alien Ant Farm's remake of Michael Jackson's "Smooth Criminal" is currently climbing the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart, perhaps real success to the group would be if the King Of Pop were to perform the song with them at some point in the future.
Alien drummer Mike Cosgrove and bassist Tye Zamora tell LAUNCH that the concept is definitely in their dreams. Cosgrove says, "We want to go perform the song with him--if he would ever, like, grace us, it would be great. And plus, he would have fun. He never rocked out with a band like us, so... He's played with great players, but not us."
Zamora adds, "The craziest thing he ever did was, like, 'Dirty Diana' with Steve Stevens or whatever, and that's about it. This is, like, an opportunity to actually get behind a rock band rather than a bunch of, you know, great jazz musicians."
Zamora adds, "I'd better meet him or else I'm gonna be pretty mad."
"Smooth Criminal" originally appeared on Jackson's 1987 album, Bad. Alien Ant Farm's version is included on the Southern California group's 2001 DreamWorks debut, ANThology.
The group is currently on the Vans Warped Tour (owned by LAUNCH Media), which arrives Wednesday (June 27) in Chula Vista, California.
