(5/2/01, 5 p.m. ET) -- Korn's Fieldy and 311's Nick Hexum and Chad Sexton recently entered a Los Angeles studio with Shaquille O'Neal to collaborate on a new song by the NBA superstar titled "Psycho." The rap-rock tune is being produced by Sexton, who also plays drums, while Hexum added guitar and Fieldy bass.
Hexum tells LAUNCH that "Psycho" lives up to its name. "He is just going off, he is like, ranting and raving about everything in his life, everything in the world of basketball. He's being a psycho, basically."
A spokesperson for O'Neal's label, Trauma Records, concurs, saying that the song is "kinda questionable material."
The song is currently being mixed by Sexton with the plan being to release it to modern-rock radio in the coming weeks. However, there is no current plan for a retail release for "Psycho," nor for it to be included on O'Neal's upcoming album, Shaquille O'Neal Presents His Superfriends, Volume I. That album is due from Trauma August 7--two weeks later than previously scheduled, in order to not conflict with O'Neal's post-season basketball play with the Los Angeles Lakers.
From Chaos, 311's sixth album, is slated for release June 19 from Volcano Records, a new label whose roster also includes Tool and Weird Al Yankovic.
