(9/17/03, 5 p.m. ET) -- Black Sabbath is once again among the acts eligible for induction this year in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. Other harder-edged nominees on the ballot, which went out to voters last week, include Iggy And The Stooges and the Sex Pistols. Queens Of The Stone Age singer/guitarist Josh Homme, in New York this week while opening for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, told LAUNCH that if it was up to him, all three would be inducted with no questions asked.
"The Stooges are the greatest rock and roll band of all time," Homme said. "And Black Sabbath, you don't even need to say anything. It's like, 'Should they be in there?' Yeah, I think so. Sex Pistols too, man. It's a no-brainer. Doesn't it seem like a no-brainer? I think on the ballot for whatever it would be, it should just say, 'Duh.'"
The inductees to the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame will probably be announced in December, with the ceremonies traditionally held in March in New York City.
Queens Of The Stone Age will be eligible for induction in 2023. Artists are eligible 25 years after the release of their first album. The self-titled debut from Queens Of The Stone Age came out in 1998.
