(5/26/03, 10 a.m. ET) -- Memorial Day may be just another excuse for a party for some Americans, but for Darryl Worley, today offers a chance to honor our troops who died in battle to protect our country's freedom. "It is a party, and it's a celebration, but it's a time to reflect on those people that gave their lives and the ultimate sacrifice to keep this country free and safe," Worley tells LAUNCH. "I will, for one, probably spend some serious time thinking this Memorial Day."
Worley says that while he's always game for partying, today is one day that he'd just prefer to spend quietly with family. "I've always been one that would take advantage of any reason to party and have a big 'ol throwdown, you know, but I've always felt a little odd about throwing down too hard on Memorial Day," he explains. "A really fun family gathering seems to be more in line with Memorial Day to me."
Worley's hit, "Have You Forgotten?," held the number one spot on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart for seven weeks. The song was co-written by Worley in support of the war with Iraq.
