(5/28/03, 5 p.m. ET) -- Lollapalooza is set to kick off July 3 in Ionia, Michigan. Although it hasn't been around since 1997, the reborn festival hasn't lost sight of its original political and environmental agenda. World Of Just(Be)Causes is the name organizer Perry Farrell is giving to the global issue component of the tour, which will feature tables by national and local organizations.
One person who has seen the various booths change over the years is Chris Cornell, who played the festival in 1992 and 1995 with his former band, Soundgarden. This year he's appearing with Audioslave and he jokingly said that he's Lollapalooza royalty.
"Yeah, I think I'm the king of Lollapalooza," Cornell said. "I think I'm the only person that's played the main stage. This will be the third time for the entire tour. So I'm the king of Lollapalooza."
Audioslave will be personally involved with "Axis Of Justice," the grassroots political organization founded by guitarist Tom Morello and System Of A Down vocalist Serj Tankian.
