(5/30/03, 5 p.m. ET) -- Cold resumes its tour on Friday (May 30) in Buffalo, New York, in support of its latest release, Year Of The Spider. With that date, the band starts a run of shows with labelmates, Staind.
The two bands have a friendly history. Staind vocalist Aaron Lewis has done studio work with Cold, while Cold guitarist Terry Balsamo appears with Staind for its Unplugged sessions.
Cold's Scooter Ward acknowledges that the two bands make a good touring match. "Well yeah, I mean Aaron has written songs with us and stuff and we work together all the time," Ward said. "We all started on Flip Records together. We've been around a while together. It's cool. We'll always tour with Staind. I mean the music is similar, and we all get along so well. Terry's played with them on the MTV Unplugged thing, you know so he's probably going to get up and do some stuff with them. Aaron's going to get up on stage and do some stuff with us. It's just... It's cool."
Cold will be playing dates with Staind through June 8. The band then heads out on a headlining tour, followed by dates on Lollapalooza. Cold will headline the second stage during the second leg of Lollapalooza, which starts July 22 in Buffalo. The band will be opening the Lollapalooza mainstage starting August 10 in Houston.
"Stupid Girl," Cold's first single from Year Of The Spider, is currently at Number 10 on the Billboard modern rock chart. It's the band's biggest single to date, and it was co-written by Ward and Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo.
