Lonestar's Forthcoming Greatest Hits Album Allows Time To Rest, Reflect

(2/28/03, 4 p.m. ET) -- Lonestar's forthcoming greatest-hits compilation closes one chapter of the award-winning group's successful career and opens another, according to group member Michael Britt.
While some artists dread closing that chapter for fear it constitutes a waning career, the guys in Lonestar view it as a chance to reflect on their many achievements. "It's an honor for us to have a greatest hits," Britt said. "Hopefully this doesn't mean our career's over. I don't think it does, but we've been on a constant treadmill for the last six or seven years and it is our little time to take a break and not have to work so hard in the studio this year until later in the year when we work on the next album, and just kind of look back and realized how many hits we've had, 'cause a lot of times we don't really realize it. We're so focused on the single we have out right then."
Britt credits the group's longevity and success to their many team players who help them find just the right songs. "I think we've had at least three hits off every album that we've put out, and not a lot of artists are that fortunate," Britt said. "I guess that speaks well for a lot of the people that help us find songs and pick songs, 'cause it's all about the songs--having great songs--and we've been lucky enough to have producers and record label A&R people that have helped us find great songs all the way up 'til now."
Lonestar's next single, "My Front Porch Looking In," which was co-written by lead singer Richie McDonald, will be released to radio in March. The song will be the first single from the greatest hits album.
