(6/10/03, 12 p.m. ET) -- Super producer Timbaland, who has worked with Missy Elliott, Jay-Z, Nas, Lil' Kim, Aaliyah, Justin Timberlake, and others, will receive the prestigious ASCAP Songwriter Of The Year Award at the 16th Annual Rhythm & Soul Music Awards on Tuesday (June 10) at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City.
The invitation only event will be hosted by ASCAP president and chairman of the board Marilyn Bergman. This will be the second Songwriter Of The Year award for Timbaland, who also won in 2001.
Lil' Kim, who recently worked with Timbaland on her hit "The Jump Off" shared that the producer has a work ethic similar to Sean "P. Diddy" Combs.
"He just wants it done and he wants it done right then and there," Kim said. "He was very disappointed when I was like, 'I'll be back.' He was like, 'What? What do you mean you'll be back? My tour bus is right outside if you want to get some rest, you know!' I was like, 'You know what, you're a Puffy and a half.' And that's one thing I liked about Puffy, was his work ethics."
Hal Jackson will also receive the first ASCAP Legendary Broadcaster Award during the ceremony which will be attended by Alicia Keys, Musiq, the Neptunes, Glenn Lewis, Kay Gee, Loon, and Mr. Cheeks.
The event will also feature a performance by Playa.
