Trick Daddy Hit With Assault Charges

(2/28/03, 1 p.m. ET) -- Rapper Trick Daddy (Maurice Young) was charged with aggravated assault with a firearm, possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon when he turned himself into Miami-Dade police on Wednesday (February 26).
The charges stem from an incident on February 3, when witnesses told police Trick Daddy got into an argument with Pernell Paige, 27, while playing basketball. The rapper allegedly left the court but returned with a firearm and threatened Paige.
Trick Daddy was released from custody after posting $22,500 bond. He is next scheduled in court on March 19, and faces a maximum of 35 years in jail if found guilty of all charges.
Trick Daddy was convicted in 1991 of cocaine possession, carrying a concealed weapon, and violating probation. The rapper served two and a half years in Florida state prison, according to AP.
