(7/26/01, 10 a.m. ET) -- R.E.M.'s "It's The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)" has been given a punk-rock makeover by veteran skacore outfit, the Suicide Machines. The version, described as a "speed-rock torrent," is among the 14 tracks to appear on Steal This Record, due from the Detroit group on Hollywood Records September 25. The original version appeared on R.E.M.'s 1987 effort, Document.
Steal This Record is the fourth album by Suicide Machines, perhaps best known for the Modern Rock singles, "Sometimes I Don't Mind" and "No Face." "The Killing Blow" is the first single from the release, set to arrive at radio August 14.
The complete track listing is: "The Killing Blow," "Steal This Record," "Honor Among Thieves," "It's The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)," "Bleeding Heart," "The Air We Breathe," "Stand Up," "Off The Cuff," "Middle Way," "Scars," "All My People," "Unbreakable," "Stay," and "Leap Of Faith."
