(3/26/01, 5 p.m. ET) -- A roadie for the hard rock/heavy metal band Lizzy Borden was shot three times and remains in stable condition after an attempted robbery in Charlotte, North Carolina early Saturday morning (March 24). Roadie Ulrik Zander, a guitar technician for the band, was shot outside the band's tour bus after Borden's set by an assailant who fled into the night, according to witnesses. Police have several leads as Zander is recovering in a North Carolina hospital. The band will continue its Deal With The Devil tour.
Frontman Lizzy Borden said in a statement, "With the blessings from our friend and brother Ulrik Zander, we are committed more than ever to finish what we started as the Deal With The Devil tour will continue as planned. We've endured many obstacles on the road, including missing opening night in Dallas due to incompatibility with the tour's headliner (Yngwie Malmsteen), to the current shooting of our friend and crew technician right in front of my eyes...We are dedicating the remainder of the tour to our friend Zander who is lying in the hospital. He is truly the man of steel and I know he will be on the road with us very soon."
Zander's spirits were quickly picked up at the hospital as two half-naked girls delivered his Motorhead CDs to his bedside.
