(2/1/01, 7 a.m. ET) - Diamond Rio's poignant new single, "One More Day," is being used as a tribute to the Oklahoma State basketball team members who recently died in a plane crash near Boulder, Colorado. The production director of a radio station in Oklahoma City collected sound bites from local television stations in addition to play-by-plays by the team's announcer, , who also perished in the crash, and combined them with the song. The piece has prompted numerous phone calls from listeners offering condolences and support to victims' families.
Learning of their song's inclusion in the tribute, Diamond Rio issued a group statement: "We are proud our song is being used in this touching tribute. Our hearts go out to the entire university and all touched by the team, staff, and pilots. Maybe this version of 'One More Day' will be of some comfort as they deal with this tragedy one day at a time."
"One More Day" is Number 12 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart.
