Brit-Rockers Bush Changed 'Golden State' Art In Wake Of Terrorist Attacks

(10/25/01, 10 a.m. ET) -- Not only did Brit-rockers Bush change the name of their current single "Speed Kills" to "The People That We Love" in wake of the September 11 terrorist attacks on the U.S., the band also scrapped the planned cover art for their new album, Golden State, which was released this week.
Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale tells LAUNCH that such changes were necessary. "We had a great cover plan, which was this plane," he says. "It was a silhouette of a plane, which is so inappropriate now, and of course it would be a horrendous cover to have. But prior to those attacks, when a plane was just an instrument of travel, and of change, and of motion--all things good--it was an amazing cover, and in fact a couple of things already got out, a bit of advertising here and there."
Golden State was released Tuesday (October 23) with a plain gold cover sporting the band's name and the album's title. Bush bassist Dave Parsons adds that such changes are "the least we can do" in the wake of last month's tragedy.
Bush, meanwhile, continues its promotional jaunt in support of the album with a show tonight (October 25) at the Joint inside the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas. The band plans to mount a full U.S. tour early next year.
