(7/24/01, 3 p.m. ET) -- DJ Paul Oakenfold has remixed Danny Elfman's Planet Of The Apes theme, "Rule The Planet," for the film's soundtrack album, which came out yesterday (July 24). Director Tim Burton's 2001 version of the movie is slated to hit screens nationwide on Friday (July 27).
Oakenfold told LAUNCH how he got involved in the project. "They approached me. They heard that I'd done Swordfish, liked the idea of it, and then approached me to work on some music with Danny Elfman, who has done the score," he said. "I was, like, 'Yeah, I'd love to,' so I can't wait to see the film, and I'm looking forward to it."
The movie Planet Of The Apes is based on Pierre Boulle's classic science-fiction novel and stars Mark Wahlberg, Helena Bonham-Carter, Tim Roth, and Michael Clark Duncan.
Danny Elfman began his musical career with Oingo Boingo and then jump-started his soundtrack career with Tim Burton's Pee Wee's Big Adventure before going on to work with the director on Batman, Edward Scissorhands, and Sleepy Hollow, among others.
