(2/4/02, 6 p.m. ET) -- Five For Fighting has lined up several shows in Canada and the eastern United States for March. The Los Angeles group, currently in the public eye thanks to its Grammy-nominated single, "Superman (It's Not Easy)," will hit the road March 1 in Ottawa, Quebec and play 11 shows overall. Stateside shows include stops in Pittsburgh; Baltimore; New York; Atlanta; Charlotte, North Carolina; and Birmingham, Alabama.
FFF frontman John Ondrasik tells LAUNCH that while the band might be best known for its piano ballad, there's much more to his group's live persona. "As the record is, there's definite emotions and moods and that ain't gonna change in the live show," he says. "They'll be rock songs where I'm trying to channel (Nirvana singer Kurt) Cobain and they'll be times when I'm sitting down pretending I'm a wannabe Elton John."
For the Canadian shows, the band will serve as the opening act for alt-pop singer-songwriter Amanda Marshall.
Five For Fighting is nominated in the Grammy Award category of best pop performance by a duo or group with vocals. The group will battle the Backstreet Boys' "Shape Of My Heart," *NSYNC's "Gone," R.E.M.'s "Imitation Of Life," and U2's "Stuck In A Moment You Can't Get Out Of."
