Ozomatli 'Embrace The Chaos' With Common, De La Soul, Black Eyed Peas

(8/29/01, 10 a.m. ET) - Ozomatli's sophomore album, Embrace The Chaos, is scheduled to be released September 11, and includes guest appearances from Common, Black Eyed Peas member Will.i.am, De La Soul's Pos and TruGoy, and Medusa. Former band member Cut Chemist guests on four songs on the album.
Cut Chemist and Chali 2na left Ozomatli earlier this year to devote more time to their tenure in hip-hop group Jurassic 5. The Afro-Latin collective has added three new members: rapper Anthony "Kanetic Source" Stout, turntablist Rene "Spinobi" Dominguez, and drummer Andrew Mendoza.
Returning original members include percussionists Jiro Yamaguchi and Justin Poree, bass player and vocalist Wil-Dog Abers, trumpet player and co-lead vocalist Asdrubal Sierra, guitarist and co-lead vocalist Raul Pacheco, and tenor saxophonist, clarinet player, and vocalist Ulises Bella. The group's self-titled debut reached Number Seven on Billboard's Top Latin Albums chart in 1999.
The band will play a free concert Thursday (August 30) at 8 p.m. at the Santa Monica Pier in Santa Monica, California, and will perform at an in-store at Tower Records in Hollywood on September 15.
