(6/10/99, 1 a.m. PDT) - The gods must be smiling down at Andrew Copeland. Not only has Copeland struck platinum as a rhythm guitarist and backing vocalist for Sister Hazel, the musician recently won a car for his father on The Price Is Right.

Copeland, in Los Angeles with Sister Hazel to work on the band's next album, received tickets to the show after walking by the television studio with his girlfriend. His luck, however, didn't end there, as the musician made it to the panel of four contestants. After losing his first three bids, Copeland guessed $1 more than the three other contestants on the next item and wound up onstage with Bob Barker himself.

The veteran game show host commented on Copeland's bare feet before noting that the musician had the opportunity to win--you guessed it--"a new car!!!!!" After guessing the prices of three household items, Copeland won a Ford Escort, which he plans to give to his father.

Although Copeland qualified for the Showcase Showdown, his luck ended there. He overbid by more than $1,000 on a vacation package consisting of trips to Miami, Costa Rica, and Fiji.

"It was almost surreal," Copeland said of the experience in a statement. "The coolest part was winning the car for my dad, because he'd just totaled his car the week before."

Fans can catch Copeland on The Price Is Right on Friday (June 11), so check your local listings.

Meanwhile, Sister Hazel continues to work on the follow-up to its major label debut, Somewhere More Familiar, which has been certified platinum for sales of 1 million copies.
