(9/13/00, 1 p.m. ET) - Eve 6 is among rock's young up-and-comers. With "Promise," off the new album Horrorscope, the band appears to be continuing the upward climb started with its first hit, "Inside Out." The band recently toured Canada as part of the Summersault tour and they saw first hand how the imminent demise of the Smashing Pumpkins--who announced they were breaking up earlier this year--affected their performance.

Eve 6 drummer Tony Fagenson told LAUNCH that the Pumpkins' performances "were half-assed." Guitarist John Siebels added, "It was pretty bad. It was horrible." Singer Max Collins said he thought the Pumpkins quit at the right time. "I can see how they're getting sort of fed up with the state of music," he said, "and what they're doing is going over people's heads now, I think.". However, Summersault tour organizers Our Lady Peace--specifically vocalist Raine Maida--disagreed, telling LAUNCH he was thrilled with their performance and that he was sad to see the Pumpkins call it quits.

Eve 6 is on tour with OPM, while Smashing Pumpkins kick off their European tour September 16 in Berlin, concluding in London on November 4.
