Tattoo The Earth Reaches Record Stores

(9/13/00, 10 a.m. ET) - The heaviest tour of the summer, Tattoo The Earth, is coming to a record store near you in the form of Tattoo The Earth: The First Crusade, due October 24. The album was recorded on July 30 in Pontiac, Michigan, by producer James "Jimbo" Barton and features performances by Slipknot, Slayer, Sepultura, Sevendust, Mudvayne, (hed)pe, and others.

Sevendust guitarist Chris Connolly told LAUNCH what he liked best about the tour. "Well, other than the fact that you can get tattooed by some of the greatest artists on the planet right now, it's not set up in amphitheaters, which is something that was a bonus when it was sold to us," he said. "We did Ozzfest, and Ozzfest was great, but when you deal with seats like that, it's not exactly the right environment for heavy bands."

The title of the album implies there will be more Tattoo The Earth festivals, and creator Scott Alderman recently told LAUNCH he is looking forward to assembling another one for next summer.
