(10/5/99, 4 p.m. PDT) - A Tribe Called Quest, one of hip-hop's most celebrated acts, will have due homage paid them when Jive Records releases the best-of collection, Anthology, due Oct. 26. According to a spokesperson, Anthology will feature such classic hits as "Check The Rhyme,'" "Bonita Applebum," "Scenario," "Award Tour," "Hot Sex," "Oh My God," and "Electric Relaxation," as well as the current hit by lead rapper Q-Tip, "Vivrant Thing." A Tribe Called Quest made an indelible mark on hip in 1989 with the release of their debut album, People's Instinctive Travels. Throughout the '90s, they merged thought-provoking rap with incisive jazz, and their albums Low End Theory, Midnight Marauders, and Beats, Rhymes And Life have become classics among hip-hop enthusiasts. Last year's The Love Movement was the group's final album. To read an A Tribe Called Quest feature, click here. -- Karu F. Daniels, New York Got news tips, comments, or questions?
