(12/25/98, 1 a.m. PST) - Rocking couple Lisa Loeb and Dweezil Zappa needed some inspiration of the cinematic variety to get in the mood to deck the halls. "This year, I wasn't feeling particularly jolly. Maybe it was the warm weather we were experiencing in Southern California," Zappa said from an arrival line at the Hurlyburly movie premiere held last Monday at the Showcase Theater in Los Angeles. "Then we got this massive coldfront and Lisa and I watched A Very Brady Christmas. We were transfixed. I had forgotten what a fine, fine film it was. It got us in the holiday mood." Loeb admitted that she had never seen the family classic, but would definitely recommend it as a holiday classic. "We just flipped on the TV and there it was," she said. "Next thing you know, we'd watched the whole thing and were all giddy." Both expected that Hurlyburly, a gritty Hollywood tale about a group of drug-abusing, overindulgent friends opening on Christmas Day, would conjure completely different feelings. "We love the actors in the film, especially Sean Penn and Kevin Spacey, but this probably won't be the kind of holiday film to take the family to," Zappa said. "It will probably be a tad too depressing for the big day." -- Midnight Jones, Los Angeles
