(12/23/98, 1 p.m. PST) - Move aside, poseur rockers: a new boxed set devoted to the classic testosterone-rock of Deep Purple is due out this Spring. This will mark the first-ever complete history of the band available in the U.S.

The set, titled Shades (1968-1998), was developed with input from the band members themselves and features 62 tracks culled from 20 albums, as well as four previously-released anthologies. A selection of rare gems, including demos, B-sides, live versions, and unreleased tracks--many unavailable anywhere else--tops off the collection.

Shades also boasts deluxe packaging: a horizontal-opening digi-box, embossed foil band logo, and a 56-page book with rare photos and exclusive quotes. Track-by-track annotations and a discography are also included in the text.

Shades will hit stores March 2 and carries a suggested retail price of $59.98.
