Three Soundtracks For 'Prince'
06/01/1998 3:00 AM, Yahoo! Music Bruce Haring
(6/1/98) - DreamWorks SKG's animated feature The Prince Of Egypt will be accompanied by three soundtracks--a first for a film studio. In addition to the traditional soundtrack, which will feature songs primarily from the animated film, two "inspired by" soundtracks will also be released the same day. The "inspired by" albums, scheduled for release in mid-Fall (preceding the December 18th opening of the film) will offer songs that are inspired by the theme of the film: a story about two men, one born a prince, the other born a slave. The two albums--one country and one R&B--will feature such artists as Vince Gill, Reba McEntire, Wynonna, Randy Travis, Clint Black, Boyz II Men, Kirk Franklin, Jars Of Clay and DC Talk. The projects are being led by James Stroud, head of DreamWorks Records Nashville, and Jheryl Busby, head of DreamWorks Records' urban division.
