(7/31/97) - Considering crooner Jarvis Cocker's silky-smooth, sophisticated image, it's no shock that his Brit-pop band Pulp are set to appear on an album of James Bond theme covers. A Pulp spokeswoman says, "The band were thrilled by the opportunity to contribute to the album. But they wanted to do one of the lesser-known tunes, rather than take on one of the famous ones like 'Diamonds Are Forever.'" Pulp opted to record their own version of Rita Coolidge's obscure "All Time High," from the 1983 film Never Say Never Again (in which Sean Connery returned to the screen in the martini-swilling, womanizing, licensed-to-kill role he immortalized before Roger Moore and Timothy Dalton came along). Talk about yer Pulp fiction! Other artists appearing on the James Bond album, to be released by East/West Records next year, are David McAlmont and Iggy Pop.
