Home Invasion Robbery Causes A Not-So-Quiet Riot

(7/18/97) - Carlos Cavazo, guitarist for ersatz Slade tribute band Quiet Riot, was the victim of a home invasion robbery on Wednesday night, July 16th, at his house in Sherman Oaks, CA. Although he was tied up and held at gunpoint, the wiry and agile Cavazo risked his life by wriggling out of his ropes and slipping out of the house when the robbers turned their backs. Running down the street in his underwear, he flagged down a police car; the cops quickly apprehended the fleeing robbers and took them to the Van Nuys LAPD Station. Cavazo was shaken (he told news reporters on Thursday that he had thought he was a goner) but otherwise unharmed. This robbery is one of a rash of similar home invasions that have occurred in the San Fernando Valley in past weeks. Leave it to Cavazo's heavy metal thunder to save the day!
