(8/29/01, 7 a.m. ET) - Cake has announced dates for its first substantial tour in support of its latest album, Comfort Eagle, which arrived from Columbia Records in late July. The group's initial gigs will concentrate on the western part of the country, beginning in Portland, Oregon on August 31.
The tour will also feature a two-night-stand at the Warfield Theatre in San Francisco, which is driving distance from the band's home turf of Sacramento, California.
Cake frontman John McCrea tells LAUNCH that the group's current lineup is something special. "I would pay a lot of money to come see us play live, if that were possible, just to hear what it sounds like. But I have this feeling that we're sounding better than we did last year, or the year before, or the year before that. For whatever that's worth. It's important to me to think that we're actually sort of improving. That's very exciting for me."
Comfort Eagle features the single "Short Skirt/Long Jacket."
