Sixpence's Nash Sings With Surf Band, Gets Remixed

(5/17/01, 1 p.m. ET) -- Continuing to occupy her time while her band's next album remains hung up in legal limbo, Sixpence None The Richer frontwoman Leigh Nash has added vocals to a song by offbeat surf group, Los Straitjackets. The song is set to be included in the Nashville quartet's upcoming album, tentatively titled Sing-A-Long With Los Straitjackets, and due from Yep Roc Records September 25, according to Billboard.

"She did one song with them and had a blast," a spokesperson for Nash told LAUNCH. "She was so excited that they asked her to sing on the record because she's a huge fan of theirs." Others set to appear with the critically acclaimed, wrestler-mask-wearing group are the Rev. Horton Heat, Nick Lowe, Tom Petty guitarist Mike Campbell, X's Exene Cervenka, and Elvis Presley impersonator El Vez.

Elsewhere, Nash recently debuted as the worldwide model for the "Rock Superstar" campaign for cosmetic company Urban Decay's spring and summer product line. Look for her modeling an eyeliner called "Liquid Metal Eyes."

Meanwhile, "Innocente (Falling In Love)," the collaboration between Nash and Vancouver electronica outfit Delerium, will get the remix treatment four times over for a CD single due June 9 from Nettwerk America. The song, sung and co-written by Nash for Delerium's current album Poem, will be tweaked by DJ Tiesto, Lost Witness, MR SAM, and Deep Dish. Nash will also participate in a video for the single, being shot this week in Toronto.

As for Sixpence, the group recently recorded three new songs and is currently planning tour dates for July. However, a release date for the follow-up to its smash self-titled 1997 album still remains a mystery while its label, Squint Records, tries to recover from financial troubles.
