(6/20/01, 10 a.m. ET) -- Founding EPMD member and solo artist Erick Sermon has already begun producing songs for Keith Murray 's next album. Although Murray was released from the Maple Street House halfway facility in Connecticut on Monday (May 14), after serving time for allegedly attacking a teenage boy with a bar stool in 1995, Sermon has already produced seven new songs for his protege act.
Sermon tells LAUNCH that Murray's perspective on life has changed. "He wrote a lot of stuff as far as the world--his is just the same view I got. That's why I said, 'Peace to Keith Murray,' in my record because it was, like, 'Yo, it's the same type of views.' He's speaking about, as far as the world and just, like, you know, as far as him being incarcerated, and things happening with him as far as getting the short end of the stick, so he's talking about that a lot," he says.
Murray is now signed to Def Jam Records, but no album title or release date has been set for new album.
