CSNY Donating Tour Proceeds To Activist Groups

02/23/2002 10:00 AM, Yahoo! Music
Brett Anderson

(2/23/02, 10 a.m. ET) - Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young (CSNY) will donate a portion of the group's tour proceeds to a couple of activist groups. The quartet is setting aside money every night for the Nuclear Information And Resource Center (NIRS), Voters For Choice, and the Buffalo Field Campaign, which works to protect the last wild buffalo in the field.

In addition, special tickets have been made available for many of the shows, with the proceeds going to those groups. The seats don't come cheap, though--"gold" seats go for $500 each, which includes backstage passes and a meet-and-greet with David Crosby and/or Graham Nash, as well as an autographed Polaroid photo of the visit. "Silver" seats cost $200, but they don't include the rest of the package. However, there is an upside with these tickets--about half the cost is tax-deductible (consult your financial advisor for exact figures).

Nash, who's been involved in the anti-nuclear-power movement for a long time and who was deeply involved in the No Nukes concerts, told LAUNCH that CSNY's activism has never been more important or necessary than right now: "That's one of the reasons why we brought it out, because the nuclear power industry is raising its ugly head again, and all the same things that we spoke about, many of them have come true. When we were speaking of the half-life of plutonium being a quarter of a million years, No Nukes is only 20 years ago."
