CSNY Visits New York City For Poignant Pair Of Shows

Brett Atwood

(2/22/02, 10 a.m. ET) - Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young (CSNY) is expecting a poignant pair of shows at New York City's Madison Square Garden, where the quartet performs tonight and tomorrow (February 22 and 23). After all, the events of September 11 are what prompted Young to suggest that the quartet reunite for this tour, which kicked off February 6.

The tragedy has impacted everything from CSNY's song list--which includes appropriate pieces such as "Military Madness," "Carry Me," and "Half Your Angels"--to the backdrop, a collage of literature pertaining to September 11.

Graham Nash tells LAUNCH that he was on tour with David Crosby and Stephen Stills (CSN) when the terrorist attacks occurred, and that they watched the events unfold from the Rialto Hotel in downtown Denver: "We obviously had a meeting, you know, after the towers collapsed, and we realized how tragic and how enormous an event this was. And the first thing that everybody wanted to do was be with their family, so we all got on our buses and we rode home. And we took K.D. Lang with us, who was also stranded in Denver, and Eric Dickerson, the football commentator, who was also stranded in Denver."

CSN took about a week off from its tour before resuming in Los Angeles.

CSNY has just announced an Internet presale for an additional show on April 20 at Baltimore Arena. The presale runs through 3 p.m. ET today at csny.com, and the passcode is Woodstock. Tickets for the show go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. ET tomorrow.
