(2/19/98) - Jeff Buckley's final studio album will be released May 5th on Columbia Records. The two-CD set will be perplexingly titled Sketches (For My Sweetheart, The Drunk).

Buckley's mother assembled the songs on Sketches, though she enlisted the help of Buckley's band and his friends, including Soundgarden's Chris Cornell.

The 30-year-old singer-songwriter drowned in the Mississippi River last May. (His body was found in Memphis on May 29th, 1997.) Buckley was in Memphis to begin recording his second album; the first Sketches CD will feature 10 songs from studio sessionsaround that time. Disc two will feature four-track home recordings Buckley made inMemphis, rough sketches of new songs and several covers that might have made it onto the second album.
