Rah Digga Reveals Fugee Connection
05/22/2000 1:00 PM, Yahoo! Music Craig Rosen
(5/22/00, 1 p.m. ET) - Rah Digga may have risen to prominence as a member of Busta Rhymes's Flipmode Squad, but the Newark, New Jersey rapper also appeared on "Cowboys," a cut from the Fugees' breakthrough album, 1996's The Score, which ended up selling more than 5 million albums domestically. Digga, who recently released her debut solo album, Dirty Harriet, told LAUNCH how she, Young Zee, and Pace Won ended up on the Fugees' "Cowboys." "I never was a part of the Refugee Camp," Digga said. "That was just a opportunity to do a joint with some emcees around the way, 'cause, you know, remember the Fugees then weren't the Fugees now. So, that was just, they're from around the way. Young Zee had been touring with them. So, they actually made the call for Young Zee to be on the joint. But me and Pace just so happened to be with him when he went to do it. And next thing you know, we were just all paired up and doing our thing and bow, it was on the album. I didn't even know it was going on the album." Dirty Harriet was released on April 4 and features guest vocals from Busta Rhymes, Eve and others. Digga also appears on the Hip-Hop For Respect project with Sporty Thievz, Common, Mos Def and others. -- Soren Baker, Los Angeles
