2/24/00, 5 p.m. ET) - Buckcherry might have lost the Grammy Award for best hard rock performance to Metallica, but that doesn't mean the hard-rocking Los Angeles band spent the week without accolades. Guitarist Keith Nelson was awarded the Les Paul Award for most promising new guitarist along with Orgy's Amir Derakh at the Orville H. Gibson Awards in L.A. earlier this week. Nelson tells LAUNCH that being recognized for his six-string talents is something to be proud of. "It's f--king way cool -- it's totally cool," he says. "I don't even know what to say, you know? Everything that we've done has been really focused on being a band and to get an individual award like this is pretty cool. Obviously, just playing regular guitar and being in a rock 'n' roll band hasn't really gone out of style. Accepting an award for rock 'n' roll is like being awarded for bad behavior." -- Neal Weiss, Los Angeles
