Tracy Chapman 'Telling Stories' In 2000

(12/8/99, 5 p.m. ET) - Singer-songwriter Tracy Chapman tells LAUNCH that she just finished recording a new album last week. Telling Stories will be the follow-up to 1996's Give Me One Reason, and it will be released in February.

LAUNCH asked the Grammy-winning artist if there was anything that prevented her from releasing an album sooner: "There was no obstacles, actually," she said. "I was in the studio for a while but the record has turned out the way I wanted it to. I'm really extremely happy with it. I hope people like it."

In the new year, Chapman plans to tour extensively to support Telling Stories, but fans can see her beforehand on Dec. 19 when she appears on One Love: The Bob Marley All-Star Tribute, which airs on TNT at 8:00 p.m. (ET). As for her New Year's plans, Chapman says, "That's my time to chill. I'll be at home."
