(9/7/99, 1 a.m. PDT) - Diamond Rio has the prestigious honor of performing the National Anthem at the first-ever regular season Tennessee Titans game at Adelphia Coliseum in Nashville on Sept. 12.

The platinum-selling group will perform the "Star Spangled Banner" just prior to the 1 p.m. kickoff when the Titans take on the Cincinnati Bengals.

Lead singer Marty Roe tells LAUNCH the group is thrilled and honored to participate in the game-day events. "If we're a little too exuberant, please understand," he says. "We haven't had a professional football team ever, so we're all excited about it. We've hit it off well with the new team. [Kicker] Al Del Greco and I have become good friends, and the guys on the team that I know and have talked to, they are genuinely excited to be in a city that wants 'em."

The Titans, formerly known as the Tennessee Oilers, moved to from Houston to Memphis, Tenn. in 1997. Last year the team's home was Vanderbilt Stadium in Nashville.

Diamond Rio will also perform a free public concert outside the Coliseum following the game. No game ticket is necessary to attend the concert.
