Sting Looking Forward To Playing Grammy Awards

Sting kicked off his latest North American tour four days ago, but there's one performance he's particularly looking forward to--a duet with reggae artist Sean Paul on February 8 at the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles. Sting's up for two awards at the show, and he told LAUNCH that he's honored both to be nominated and to play, as he thinks the Grammys have greater credibility than other music awards shows.
"I do take it seriously, because the constituency, or the people who vote, are your peers," Sting said. "It's not like a magazine just saying, you know, what's in and what's out--those people know how to make a record. They know how hard it is to make a good song. And so, when you're voted there, then it does meaning something--probably more than any other award."
Sting is nominated for two tracks from his latest album, Sacred Love--Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for "Send Your Love," and Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals for "Whenever I Say Your Name," his duet with Mary J. Blige.
Sting's next tour stop is Wednesday (January 28) at the Saenger Theatre in New Orleans.
