Sevendust Cancels Show After Singer's Brother Is Killed

(11/11/02, 3 p.m. ET) -- Sevendust postponed its show Sunday night (November 10) at Madison, Wisconsin's Barrymore Theater after singer Lajon Witherspoon's brother, Reginald Witherspoon, was shot to death over the weekend.
Lajon heard the news via a phone call from his father five minutes before the band's Saturday night (November 9) performance in Minnesota. The singer was urged to go on with the show by his father, and those who attended the show appreciated the shaken Witherspoon going through with the scheduled performance. Afterwards, Witherspoon immediately left to attend to family matters.
A spokesperson for Sevendust told LAUNCH that Tuesday's (November 12) show at Newport Music Hall in Columbus, Ohio has also been postponed. The band will resume its tour Thursday (November 14) in Syracuse, and the missed dates will be rescheduled at some point.
Details surrounding the murder of Witherspoon's brother were not available at press time.
