Duncan Sheik Teams With Foreigner's Mick Jones

(8/4/02, 10 a.m. ET) -- Perhaps one of the odder details about Duncan Sheik's upcoming album, Daylight, is a songwriting collaboration with Mick Jones, guitarist in classic rock mainstay Foreigner. The duo co-write the album track "On Her Mind."
The pairing resulted from Sheik's own work with Jones's stepdaughter, Samantha Ronson--currently producing her Island Records debut album. Sheik tells LAUNCH, "Mick was kind of around, you know, he was kind of between getting ready for his tour. Like, he would come by my studio when I was working with Samantha, we'd sit around the table and play guitar (and) talk about her songs or whatever. And then one day he came up with this guitar riff and I found a little chord progression and then one thing led to another and there was a kind of a cool piece of music."
Daylight, Sheik's fourth album, arrives August 27 from Atlantic Records. The release features the single "On A High."
