Blur Stays On Positive Tip For 'Think Tank'

(5/2/03, 4 p.m. ET) -- Blur's forthcoming album, Think Tank, due out May 6, marks a change in perspective for the band. Bassist Alex James said that Think Tank is very different from its predecessors. "Compared to what we've done before it's quite a positive record," James said. "I think in the past our motivation for making music has been in discontent, and anger, and sort of objecting to things. But, this record, its genesis is in sort of satisfaction, really. It's quite a positive and hopeful and warm record."
The first single from Think Tank, "Crazy Beat," is currently at Number 23 on the Billboard Modern Rock chart.
The band recently played the Coachella Festival in California, and will play Field Day in Riverhead, New York on June 8. In between the band has scheduled some European dates and will play various radio festivals in the United States.
