Puddle Of Mudd frontman Wes Scantlin says that he feels exonerated after most charges were dropped against him following an aborted performance last month in Toledo, Ohio. He pled no contest to a reduced charge of disorderly conduct after cutting short Puddle Of Mudd's February 22 show at a club called Headliners.
Scantlin told LAUNCH that the whole affair was much ado about nothing: "I was innocent from the get-go, but, you know, they wanted to make an example out of something or someone, so they picked me, and, you know, there ya go, man,” Scantlin said. “I got arrested for nothing, and it was publicized all over the freakin' planet Earth, and I really didn't do anything wrong to anybody, really. I said I was sorry probably 10 times."
Scantlin was originally charged with disorderly conduct intoxication, criminal mischief, and misconduct involving a public transportation system. He was ordered to pay $175 in court costs and will contest those in a hearing scheduled for April 16.
At Headliners, Scantlin allegedly called off Puddle Of Mudd's show four songs into the set, telling the crowd he was too wasted to play. He reportedly remained on stage for another half hour, insulting and cursing the audience until he returned to his dressing room, where he was arrested.
Scantlin has said he'd like to return to Toledo to play a benefit for local police and firefighters.
Puddle Of Mudd performs Friday (March 12) at the Dome Theatre in Niagara Falls, New York.
