(9/4/02, 1 p.m. ET) -- Filter's new album The Amalgamut is among the first of albums released that addresses the events of September 11. Singer-songwriter Richard Patrick told LAUNCH the he felt he just had to release "The Missing," a song about the terrorist attacks. He recalls that day, the aftermath, and his response as a musician.
"In Chicago, we just got pissed. I mean, I wasn't there. In New York. I'm sure it was a whole gamut of gigantic (emotions). But the first three days I was just f--kin' mad. And then I got really sad. I wept for like a couple of days. I just couldn't control it. The thing is, here I am, I'm an artist and I don't want to talk about it because it's so hard...Do I have the right? But I'm an American, and I've lost innocence, too. So 'The Missing' came out."
This year on September 11, Filter will be out of the country kicking off its headlining spot on the Miller Beer Rellim Tour in Montreal, Quebec. It runs through October 19 in Miami.
