Pink Floyd Genius Gives Thumbs Up To Bloodhound Gang's 'Boobies'

(4/25/00, 4 p.m. ET) - The release of Bloodhound Gang
's latest album, Hooray For Boobies, was delayed for nearly a year in the U.S. due to some legal issues with some of the songs. One of the problematic cuts was "Right Turn Clyde," which uses an interpretation of Pink Floyd's
"Another Brick In The Wall, Part 2." The Bloodhound Gang changed the lyric "All in all you're just another brick in the wall" to "All in all you're just another d--k with no balls." Bloodhound Gang singer and creative force Jimmy Pop told LAUNCH how that led to the hold-up of the album. "What happened was that we were going to get sued by Pink Floyd for a remake that we did of one of their songs, and the lawyers wanted us to take the song off the record. So here [in the U.S.], when it was supposed to come out at the same time as Europe, they had to destroy all 300,000 copies. And the Roger Waters heard the song and he said, 'You know what? I like it.' So he let us put it on there, but that's why it came out in Europe, but at the end of the day it was better because that way from last May until about March we just concentrated on Europe non-stop." Hooray For Boobies was eventually released in the U.S. with "Right Turn Clyde." Pink Floyd isn't the only artist given the Bloodhound Gang treatment on the album. The band also reads samples of Metallica
's "For Whom The Bell Tolls," Frankie Goes To Hollywood's "Relax," Falco's "Rock Me Amadeus," and covers the Association hit, "Along Comes Mary." -- Darren Davis, New York
