Bloodhound Gang To Do Song With 'N Sync

(4/24/00, 4 p.m. ET) - Last weekend the Bloodhound Gang got a surprise visit from chart kings 'N Sync, and the two bands hit it off -- so well that they're planning on doing a song together.

Bloodhound Gang singer Jimmy Pop told LAUNCH, "If they asked us to do it on their record we could do it that way, but we would love to have one, two, three, four or all five of 'em on our record," he said. "I don't want to give it out, because I told Joey the idea and he seemed to really like it and it's kind of sick. So hopefully it will be really cool. It won't put them in a bad light and it won't put us in a good light so it should work out."

Pop added that it's hard for 'N Sync to get respect, but he thinks they deserve it. "It's hard for a lot of people, especially for people who take their music seriously, to see a difference between one boy band to another, but I think there's a very big difference. 'N Sync put themselves together. They made the calls and everything and in a way they have control over what they do and they understand their market, too so… I really don't see a band like the Backstreet Boys, even though they seem the same, to have that ability."

Pop talked about how the two bands met. "They asked to come out to the show so we gave them their own balcony to hang out in and while we were playing our tour manager said, 'OK, well they do this thing where they push out a trunk that says "'N Sync" on it and they all dress in the same outfits and they do a dance routine and sing 'Tearin' Up My Heart,' and would you guys like to pull out the trunk?' We said, 'Sure.' We got to that part of the show and pulled out the trunk and we were like, 'cool.'" Afterwards they stuck around to hang out with the Bloodhound Gang and the two bands were out schmoozing until "about three or four in the morning." The Bloodhound Gang continues to use the 'N Sync trunk trick at their shows.
