Psychedelic Furs Kick Off Tour Tonight

(3/23/01, 12 p.m. ET) -- The Psychedelic Furs kick off a spring tour tonight (March 23) in Plainview, New York at the Vanderbilt. It's the band's first trek since it reunited for last summer's tour with the Go-Go's and B-52's. The Furs, known for such '80s hits as "Pretty In Pink," have been rehearsing in a New York studio and writing songs for a forthcoming album.
Bassist-songwriter Tim Butler told LAUNCH the band is looking forward to the tour. "Great. Great. We're really excited. We've got a load of new songs that we're going to be putting in, rotating the songs. Lots of new, old chestnuts we haven't played for a while so it will make it fun for us and the audience. So, we're all excited."
Tim Butler added that fans will also be treated to the band's hits such as "Love My Way," "Pretty In Pink," and "Heaven." He said, "Playing new material is always scary, hopefully people will like it." One of the new tracks the Psychedelic Furs will be playing is a tune the band debuted last year, "Alive," but Butler doesn't want fans just to focus on that one song. Opening for the Furs is Tinfed.
