Glenn Tilbrook Raising Funds For September 11 Funds
10/18/2001 7:00 AM, Yahoo! Music Kastle
(10/18/01, 7 a.m. ET) -- Glenn Tilbrook will play for spare change today (October 18) in New York's Grand Central Station, but don't get the wrong idea. He doesn't need the money--rather, he's raising funds for charities involved in the relief efforts from the September 11 terror attacks in New York City and Washington, D.C.
The Squeeze singer-guitarist will play from 8 to 9 a.m. in Vanderbilt Hall; from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. on the lower level food court; and again from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on the lower level food court.
As if that wasn't enough, Tilbrook returns to Grand Central tomorrow (October 19) to demonstrate his cooking abilities. Tilbrook will be in the kitchen in Vanderbilt Hall making one of his favorite dishes, Welsh Rarebit (roughly the British equivalent of grilled cheese). The exhibition is set to run for an hour, starting at 12:30 p.m.
Tilbrook is in the city as part of U.K. With N.Y., a festival designed to show the solidarity between the U.K. and New York. Three years in the making, it's become even more important in light of the events Of September 11 and Britain's stand with the U.S. against terrorism.
Earlier this year, Tilbrook released his first solo album, The Incomplete Glenn Tilbrook, and he played a series of solo acoustic dates across the country over the summer.
